School Opening Details


Morning Carpool

  • Students and staff should do an at-home wellness check each day before leaving for school.
  • Temperature check and COVID-19 symptom check will be performed upon arrival.
  • All K-12 students will be dropped off under the breezeway between the Gym and the Main Building. Students arriving between 7:15 and 7:35 will report to the gym or cafeteria, where they will be socially distanced and monitored until released to go to class.
  • Preschool students will be dropped off at the Preschool drop-off.
  • Parents will not be allowed to walk their PK-12 student into the school building.
  • Students who drive will park and come through the gate by the Three Cross Building, where a temperature and COVID-19 symptom check will be performed.
  • All students 4th grade and up, as well as all staff, will wear masks, shields, or facial coverings at all times while on campus.

 


During the School Day

  • All students 4th grade and up, as well as all staff, will wear masks, shields, or facial coverings at all times while on campus.
  • Social distancing will be enforced when possible in classrooms and all over campus at all times.
  • Frequent handwashing and hand sanitizer will be encouraged all during the day.
  • Hand sanitation stations will be provided throughout the campus.
  • Common and high traffic areas will be sanitized multiple times during the day by facilities staff that have been trained in COVID-19 sanitation.
  • Desks and chairs will be sanitized between classes when students are moving from one classroom to another.
  • There will be designated entry and exit points as well as one-way stairways to minimize student contact.
  • Students will be socially distanced during lunch and chapel services.
  • Plexiglass will be utilized in offices and at teacher desks for maximum protection.
  • Only essential visitors (determined essential by FWA administration) will be allowed on campus. They will be screened for temperature and COVID-19 symptoms.

 


Afternoon Carpool

  • Preschool students will be picked up at the Preschool building, using the marked carpool lanes.
  • K-12 students will be picked up in the breezeway between the gym and the main building.
  • Students will be socially distanced in the auditorium while waiting to be picked up.

 


Daily Cleaning of the Campus

  • Common and high traffic areas will be sanitized multiple times during the day by facilities staff that have been trained in COVID-19 sanitation.
  • Overnight cleaning of the entire campus will be done by a licensed crew that has been trained in COVID-19 sanitation.

 


COVID-19 EXPOSURE RESPONSE

 Individuals with Confirmed or Suspected Cases of COVID-19

Any individual who is either (a) lab confirmed to have COVID-19 ; or (b) experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19 must stay at home throughout the infection period, and cannot return to campus until the school screens the individual to determine any of the below conditions for campus re-entry have been met:

  • For an individual who was diagnosed with COVID-19, all three of the following must be met to return to campus:
    • at least one day (24 hours) have passed since recovery (resolution of fever without the use of fever reducing medications;
    • the individual has improvement in symptoms (e.g. cough, shortness of breath);
    • at least ten days have passed since symptoms first appeared.
  • For an individual who has symptoms that could be COVID-19 but is not evaluated by a medical professional or tested for COVID-19, the individual is assumed to have COVID-19 and must complete the criteria above to return to campus.
  • For an individual who has symptoms of COVID-19 and wants to return to school before completing the criteria above, the individual must either
    • Obtain a note from a medical professional clearing the individual for return based on an alternative diagnosis that is not respiratory in nature; or
    • Receive one confirmation that they are free of COVID-19 from an approved COVID-19 testing location.
  • In the case of a confirmed positive COVID -19 lab test result for a student or staff member, the required health officials will notified immediately. Parents of students who were in class with the student or staff member will be notified as well.  Based on the guidance received from the health officials, students and staff in close contact to the individual may be required to quarantine at home for 14 days.
  • If a student or staff member travels to an area that requires a quarantine upon return, the student or staff member will be required to quarantine at home for 14 days.

 

Identifying Possible COVID-19 Cases on Campus

  • FWA will immediately separate any student or staff member who shows COVID-19 symptoms while at school until the student can be picked up by a parent or guardian.
  • FWA will clean and disinfect the areas used by the individual as soon as is feasible. That area will be closed until cleaning is possible unless 7 days have already passed.
  • Any student who reports feeling feverish will be screened with a temperature check immediately.

 

Exposure and/or Close Contact

Close contact with an individual who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 is defined as:

  • Being directly exposed (e.g., being coughed on while); or
  • Being within six feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes;

if either occurred any time in the last 14 days at the same time the infected individual was infectious.

 

Individuals are presumed to be infectious at least two days prior to symptom onset or, in the case of asymptomatic individuals who are lab-confirmed with COVID-19, two days prior to the confirming lab test.

 

COVID-19 Symptoms

In evaluating whether an individual has symptoms consistent with COVID-19, consider the following question:

Have they recently begun experiencing any of the following in a way that is not normal for them?

  • Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Cough
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Chills
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Shaking or exaggerated shivering o Significant muscle pain or ache
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea or vomiting
