2018-2019 School Year
Unless other dates are specified in the assignment, summer assignments are due the first day of school.
Summer Assignments are required for the following:
- Elementary Reading
- Elementary Math
- Secondary English
- Secondary Social Studies
NOTE: If you transfer from a college prep level class to a Pre-AP or AP level class during the first semester, you are still required to complete the summer assignment.
Elementary Reading and Math
Entering Kindergarten through entering 5th Grade
Summer Skills Review books for our elementary students will be sent home during the last week of school. New students can pick up their copies at the main reception desk.
- Letter to Parents
- Reading Log (Kindergarten through 2nd grade)
- Reading Log (3rd through 5th grade)
- Summer AR (2nd through 5th grade)
Following is a list of the English Department books for summer reading. Please acquire these books as soon as possible so that your student will have ample time to read. Katy Budget Books has set aside copies of each of these selections for your purchase. They easily will be able to assist you with your required titles, but the books may be purchased at other book stores as well. If an ISBN number accompanies the book, that version is the required version.
Parents, please partner with us by encouraging your student to organize their time and anticipate vacation plans and any other scheduled events that would hinder the reading of their required summer books. We are so thankful for your support in this matter. Reading over the summer keeps your students’ reading skills sharpened and that affects all other subjects in school.

Secondary Social Studies
All pre-AP and AP students in Grades 9 through 12 have summer assignments. There is also a College Prep 11th grade assignment.
If a student transfers from a college prep level course to a pre-AP or AP level course during the first semester, they will still be responsible for the summer assignment.
