More Etc. from the Etc. Office: Parents, if your child is going to be absent from school and you would like to request their missed work, please make sure and call the Etc. office by 9:00 a.m. Teachers have limited opportunity to gather your child’s work, and if you call early it
gives them sufficient time to put it together. If you have not called by that time, it is best to just wait and either call the next day (if your child is absent again) or simply allow your child to collect his or her
own work upon their return. We will no longer be able to accept homework requests after 9:30. If you miss this cut-off, please wait and call the next morning of the absence. Also, please do not request work if you are not going to be able to pick it up that afternoon. This service is not provided so the students can have a centralized
place to pick up their missed work upon their return. It is only for students who are willing and able to work on their missed assignments at home.

A Note from our Headmaster: We would like to introduce you to a new system our school has acquired to help protect our children~it is called V-soft. V-soft tracks all visitors, parents, students, faculty, volunteers and contractors at our school, thus providing a safer more monitored environment for our students while at school.
Anyone entering our school will be asked to present a valid state issued ID that is scanned into the system. The system immediately alerts the school of anyone who may jeopardize the safety of the campus.
We feel certain this will help us keep our campus safer, and ask for your cooperation in presenting your valid state issued ID when checking in at school. Thank you for your help in advance.

Did you know that………In Bethlehem, the little town where Jesus was born, the Church of the Nativity is ablaze with flags and decorations every Christmas. On Christmas Eve, natives and visitors alike crowd the church's doorways and stand on the roof to watch for the dramatic annual procession. Galloping horsemen and police mounted on Arabian horses lead the parade. They are followed by solitary horseman carrying a cross and sitting astride a coal-black steed. Then come the churchmen and government officials. The procession solemnly enters the doors and places an ancient effigy of the Holy Child in the church. Deep winding stairs lead to a grotto where visitors find a silver star marking the site of the birth of Jesus. Christian homes in Bethlehem are marked by a cross painted over the door and each home displays a homemade manger scene. A star is set up on a pole in the village square.

MORE Book Fair Volunteers Needed: Thanks to everyone who already volunteered to work the Book Fair. I would like to host a "Dads and Donuts" one morning from 7 - 8 a.m. and I would like to have the Book Fair open Friday evening for sales before and after the Oklahoma performance and during intermission. So far I have two volunteers for Dads and Donuts. I won't be able to host these events without additional volunteers. Maybe you could not help during the day, but could help for an hour one morning before school or Friday evening from 6 to 9 or 9:30 p.m. I do not have a date for Dads and Donuts, so please tell me which morning would work for you. Please send an email to ksolomon@faithwest.org and let me know your availability. Blessings! Karen Solomon, FWA Librarian.

New Security Fencing: Parents, as you know, we take safety and security very seriously here at FWA. You probably have noticed our new black wrought iron fencing all around the campus. The South Parking Lot/Spanish Church gate and the Three Cross building gate will be unlocked daily from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. only; after this time, please come through the main entrance and sign in at the Information Desk.
During the school day, students should never be in the parking lot. When moving from the Youth building or the Three Cross building to the gym or vice versa, all students are to go through the main building – NOT through the parking lot. Students disobeying this safety rule will be reprimanded.
Every Friday morning, all 6th – 12th grade students will enter the fountain area instead of the gym. The Commons Café will be open for breakfast. For safety reasons, all students will remain in the fountain area until 7:50 am. A special thanks to Chuck Davis and Company for all your hard work.
Faith West will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair Dec 3 through Dec 7. We’re looking for people to help set up Monday morning and for people to work the fair Monday through Friday. Please send an email to ksolomon@faithwest.org and let us know your availability.

Senior Kristin Elliott Story: Cancer battle doesn't slow Faith West hitter
By Matt Musil / 11 News
Senior Hitter Kristin Elliott is a standout volleyball player for Faith West Academy. “She made all-state the last two years and she made all-tournament at state the last two years we couldn't function without Kristin on the court,” said her coach Tara Montgomery. But what really sets Kristin apart was that she was diagnosed with cancer in February of 2006. And despite the fact that she had to have tumors removed from her leg and her lung, she never stopped playing volleyball. “The found a tumor the size of a grapefruit in this thigh,” said Elliott as she pointed to her right leg. That was last year. This year, three weeks before pre-season workouts at Faith West, she had tumors removed from a lung. But that didn't stop Kristin either. “It was pretty hard. I'm not gonna lie,” said Elliott. “Breathing was difficult, but I just kinda sucked it up.” And now Kristin is trying to lead her team back to the state tournament, but in doing so, she has inspired everyone around her. “She takes life as it comes at her. She takes it on with great heart and fullness,” said teammate Tara Barker. “She has fun all the time.
South Gate Locked: The gate at the south parking lot is closed and locked at 8:00 a.m. If you arrive after 8:00, you will need to drop your child off (or walk them in) at the main building.
