Kristin's Miracle House

My Story

My name is Kristin Elizabeth Elliott, and this is my story. I was diagnosed with a rare and untreatable cancer, called synovial cell sarcoma stage III, at the age of sixteen. A grapefruit sized tumor was found in my thigh in February of 2006. I endured chemotherapy for two and a half months, but its failure led me to have a nine hour surgery to remove the large mass. I was not expected to walk or play volleyball again, but no one would ever think that today. After recovering from the extensive surgery, my next step was an intense radiation treatment plan that following summer. Upon my year anniversary of my last radiation treatment, two cancerous tumors had returned to my lungs, which were removed in July of 2007. Unfortunately, a tumor was missed during that surgery, and I had to return New Year's Eve to remove the final tumor. My faith in God and prayers from family and friends has sustained me through this long, hard journey. I am believing in my complete healing and will continue to live life with everything I have. I am grateful that I have been able to continue to pursue my passions, which are playing volleyball and  serving others through missions.

Since the age of thirteen, I have been on mission trips to Mexico and Africa. I know God has called me to care for those who need it and who desperately need to hear of God's unconditional love for them. I feel most humbled when caring for others and cannot express the joy I have when doing so. I have devoted time, love, and energy into ministering to kids and will continue to do so. I have come to find that nothing could be more spiritually fulfilling and eternally worthwhile than being a servant to others for God. After my recent trip to Zambia, Africa, in June of 2007, God has led me to take up a cause that will bless the AIDS stricken orphans there.

When Make-A-Wish came to my house to grant my wish, there was only one thing in my heart that I truly wanted. I told them that I had decided to raise funds to build a home for orphans in Zambia. I love them so deeply, and I want to forever ensure them hope and a future. This home will house about fifteen Zambian children. They will live here permanently and will receive love, education, and medical care. This home will be called Kristin's Miracle House and will cost $60,000. Make-A-Wish has graciously granted me $2,600. I am responsible for raising the rest of the funds myself.

I am asking for your support in helping me make my dream a reality. I am deeply appreciative of anything you could give, and prayers for this ministry would be enough. I will be returning to Zambia, Africa, in June for another mission trip.

Family Legacy Missions International is the organization that I went to Africa through. If you would like to see more of what goes on there, then you can visit them on the web at www.legacymissions.org
