2007-2008 Swimming Schedule

Faith West Swim Team Roster 1-14-08

Congratulations to the 2008 State Swimmers! Pictures of the team in action.

FWA had a huge obstacle to swim over at the 2008 TAPPS State meet as they were aligned to compete with 5A schools. But, with many new records set at the meet, the “Swimming Eagles” were to true to their FWA motto, “Excellence without Compromise".  The team, afflicted with illnesses for the past several weeks had not completely recovered, yet they swam with tenacity and determination.  Last minute changes due to illnesses were becoming all too common practice. [Thank you Hannah Long, Sheridan Smith, Hendrik Schotanus and David Muncey]  The swimmers literally gave everything they had when they swam.

Of the sixteen FWA swimmers who swam at the State Preliminary meet on Friday, ten advanced to the State Finals on Saturday morning.  Chrissy Ellis SR, Jessica Stewart JR, Isoke Craig JR, Kori Frank FR and Annika Traeger SO swam the 200 free relay and 400 free relay for the girls with both relays dropping their teams' personal best time. Richard Williams SR, Patrick Neville JR (50 free-style) and Jarren Brown FR (500 free-style competed in individual events.   Eric Pearson JR, Chris Schotanus SR along with Richard and Patrick swam the 200 free relay.  Everyone gave it their best.

As a coach, I was once again blessed to see how God used swimming to take kids out of their comfort zone, pushed them to their limits, made them trust on others, and some had to face their own personal fears to succeed, and Succeed they ALL did!  I am very proud of the entire swim team; they were a coach’s dream. I couldn’t ask for anything else.  I had it ALL! Thank you

The Faith West Swim team has 22 swimmers this year and are doing great! They have already competed in four meets and have improved their time at each one.  Two weeks ago, they swam against other private schools from their division, which consists of 4A and 5A schools, and placed 3rd.  Last week they competed against public and private schools and came home with many personal best times and ribbons.  The next three weeks will be very busy for these swimmers.  They will be competing at the regional meet in San Antonio this weekend.  At this meet, the swimmers will be swimming their very best to achieve one of the top eight spots in their events to qualify for State.   This regional meet will consist of schools from the south region, as far south as the Rio Grande Valley up to San Antonio.  Coach Brown has high hopes for her team and believes she will have anywhere from 15-20 swimmers competing at the State meet in San Antonio February 1st and 2nd.
