Mr. Turner will be attending the Texas Music Educators Convention in San Antonio February 13-16. One of the clinics he will attend is titled “I Don’t Need a Million Dollar Grant--$5000 Will Do!” Maybe he will get some great information that will help us for future grants.

Joshua Craig has waited with anticipation for the arrival of the sousaphone purchased through the Airborne Teacher Trust Fund grant received for the band department. As he unpacked the sousaphone, assisted by Mr. Turner, he had the opportunity to take his first blow on the sousaphone. Congratulations Joshua. Deep breaths! Deep breaths!

Congratulations to Mr. Flenoyd Turner, recipient of the Airborne Teacher Trust Fund grant for $8,891 to purchase new band equipment. As a relatively new program and with the cost of band equipment for students to learn to play an instrument, it was time to find some innovative ways to fund our school project. We first heard of the Airborne Teacher Trust Fund through the actual product itself. When researching educational grants, our Art teacher was the person behind the suggestion. She asked several teachers if we were familiar with the product and suggested that we check out their website.  Of course, every teacher has heard of Airborne and I myself have used the product.

We have established a wonderful support system through our Booster Club Parents and have named them the "Band Aides"  Our administration has been extremely supportive and finds every way possible for us to perform.

Follow along and read the blog below to hear more about our progress and see what we are doing.
